Superconscious Experience

Had a nice super-conscious experience last Sunday night. Was in deep sleep and didn't meditate that night due to pre-occupation. I went to the shrine room, conveyed my inability to meditate in front of the gods and went off to sleep. soon I'm fast asleep. at some point i could hear a high frequency sound in my head becoming louder. The loudness did wake me from my sleep but eyes were still closed and i was in the semi sleep state. The loudness suddenly burst into a audio visual experience within the mind. Suddenly there was a beautiful orangish-white light emanating from the top of my head. This was accompanied by a sound ... as if a thousand temple bells were ringing. The experience must have been brief may not more than 20 seconds. But it was a lucid super-conscious experience. Changed my perspective about myself and the mind as i know it. However this experience is also of the mind and not beyond the mind. And its that which I'm seeking.

Upcoming Experiences

Had a super conscious experience few nights back during sleep. Every time it happens; it awakens me from sleep and I'm fully conscious of my body especially inside the head region.

A high frequency sound is heard as I enter it, and I enter it almost naturally without any effort. And then comes a light inside the head somewhere above the eyebrows (from the inside). The light keeps changing it color from white to blue. And awareness stays there sometime until slowly the energy wanes back from the head back to the spine.

After that experience a lot of things got smoothened out on the material plane. Lot of unpleasant karma got smoothened out. Gurudeva mentions the high ‘eee’ sound as one of the preliminary siddhis. I’m glad to see this being realized in real.

The Third Superconscious Experience

I visit Ganesha temple with mom yesterday evening and offer a letter to Him in the temple fire. Had lot of prayers written in it for many of my friends/relatives who were suffering. I had also included a prayer for myself at the end.

And then the Night sleep comes amazingly peacefully and after an hour of sleep or so, i hear a high frequency "eee" sound which progressively becomes louder. Until there is all "eee" sound in my brain. At this point i'm awake and not asleep and feeling all the energy accumulated in the spine attempting to move from neck to head, but unable to. I remember Lord Ganesha at this point who is the controller of spinal kundalini energy, and from nowhere a voice tells me to "look at the back of the mind". I do it at that very moment -- and suddenly the energy gushes from spinal neck to the brain directly over my forehead and above. It was a beautiful experience --  with white light in my head though my room was pitch dark and i realize i am wide awake at that time. Then it (consciousness or awareness or energy) gushes back down from top of head to  the forehead and stays there for a while. As it stays there i can feel something rotating in the forehead for a few seconds and then it gushes back to the neck -- progressively the 'eee' sound's loudness also comes down.

And this happens many more times -- awareness gushes to head - sound becomes louder - light becomes brighter - and then back again downward direction -- sound becomes feeble.

According to my guru, it is the same experience which people high on drugs feel too -- and which is why they long for it. But in their case the awareness quickly starts moving to the lower chakras -- the ones below the muladhara -- which are the sources of depression, anxiety and fear. So in order to avoid these troubling states of mind -- they take more drugs and over time get addicted. The same experience but without the negative states can be attained naturally through meditation or deep sleep -- in my case. Its a beautiful state which is the source of all creativity and fine-art. All knowledge is present in the super conscious mind.

Here are the salient features of that wonderful experience.

  • Loss of Bodily awareness -- only awareness of energy
  • Loss of Mental -- both conscious or subconscious awareness.
  • Awareness becomes pure awareness and stays so for a time.
  • Starts gushing up the spinal column.
  • Opening up of the mind in its entirety and discovering new states of the higher mind.
  • The high frequency 'eee' Sound progressively becoming louder.
  • The progressively brightening light in the head
  • Lot of cosmic energy entering the body and relaxing every single vein, cell and nerve, etc

My guru says -- This is the state to be consciously attained through meditation, to be strived for and which is worth striving for. If by practice one is able to attain this anytime he wants easily by will -- many realms of creativity open up to the practicer -- such as fine arts, music, scientific invention, ability to see mind from the 4th dimension and see their own past or future effortlessly. There are many souls on earth today who have mastered this ability.

Thanks to my guru and Lord Ganesha for this beautiful experience.

Perceiving vs. Judging

There are a few people whom i have come across in my experiences of life -- who prefer perceiving to judgment. When someone comes to us with a problem or when life offers problems -- there are two classes of people classified based on how they respond to the circumstance
  • Those who use the intellect and 'known' ways of man to tackle the issue. When the problem is being explained or showing up they go to the past/history to find out if they know how to solve it based on past experience.
  • The creative souls, who look at the problem like a baby looking at the piece of plaything for the first time. They talk less inside them and outside to the world, they perceive and don't judge. The intellect is present but takes a back seat. Intuition takes the front seat.
The people who belong to the latter are the ones who can come out with creative - out-of-the-box solutions. They are not at majority in the society - but they do exist. People like Albert Einstein, Lalu Prasad Yadav are some examples.

Why Lalu Prasad Yadav? -- Well i was watching this show on TV sometime back -- "Kya Aap Panchvi Pass Se Tez Hain" hosted by Shahrukh Khan. Shahrukh is by default a very intellectual well read guy, and when he tends to do the show there is a lot of talking he does and quick witted responses from him to entertain people. But on the last day of the show -- Lalu was supposed to be on the hot seat. A sense of calm prevailed as soon as Lalu started answering Shahrukh's questions. It was like Shahrukh frames a question and explains it for like 2 minutes and Lalu answers it after a few seconds of pause in a short answer lasting less than 5 seconds. Lalu won around 50,00,000 Rupees from the show answering every answer correct. Its not by surprise that he has become the most preferred Railway minister and converted the industry into profit making machine from a loss making one. Various Top IIM institutes and B-schools today take Lalu's Railway management system as a case study in their MBA programs. Lalu according to me is a creative and evolved soul. One of those few fellows who has tuned himself to the river of life. He just really doesn't care if people make fun of him, he attends all the shows he is called to without a sense of superiority or ego and manages to win them and hearts of the people in his own style. He is an example of those rare folks who take life as it comes and face difficult experiences positively. My mom later told me that she has read somewhere that Lalu had once proclaimed to few of his friends and close associates that Lord Siva gave him His vision once. Whether this is true or not - but lalu definitely is an evolved soul from the point of view of my perception.

Another Lady who i know to have this sense of intuition / calmness of mind is Sai Mata of Nooliveedu Village -- a staunch devotee of Sathya Sai / Shirdi Sai Baba.

People who function in the intuitive states of mind, who live two thirds within are closer to the perfection, the lifes goal -- Self realization than those who are not.

Understanding is Control

My guru once said -- There are many mystics in the world who have had no formal training and yet seem to unfold inwardly very rapidly simply by learning the 5 states of mind, how to distinguish one from another, and how to move awareness within them consciously and systematically. They are participating in and enjoying some of the benefits of being able to experience step-by-step direct cognition of the five states of mind -- conscious mind, subconscious mind, sub of the subconscious mind, subsuperconscious mind and superconscious mind.

Concentrate upon that mind, observe the thoughts, feelings and actions from within and know that your mind is yours to use to the extent you know how to control it using the will.

Why must you study the mind ?

Why must you study the mind ? because understanding alone is fifty percent control of the mind. This understanding is necessary to impress the subconscious deeply enough to secure awareness so that spiritual strength continues to come from within.

"Understanding is Control"

The way mystics use the mind is like this - When a situation comes up - observe how the conscious mind looks at it. Then they ask how the subconscious mind looks at it. Pondering further they inquire how the super conscious looks at it. Through this process they get the clear picture of what exactly happened and whether it must be taken seriously or not. The situation was perhaps -- just a subconscious reaction such as an anger towards someone -- so you forgive yourself and forget it. The subconscious was the problem in this case.

It is the super conscious intuitive understanding that helps making such judgments.

The Mind's Three Phases

There are many souls living on earth who are young, who are living in their instinctive minds - exhibiting anger, jealousy, depression and all the qualities associated with it. Just a few days ago i saw a man kicking another man on the road due to a minor accident. The instinctive qualities seem to be widely spread among people -- and the notion of more aggressive the better seems to be prevalent.

Then we come across another section of people who are in the intellectual mind. The intellectual mind is complex and vast. Every day is a learning and there is so much to learn that it usually takes a lifetime or more in just accumulating intellectual knowledge itself. Many souls today live this way -- learning and teaching what they have discovered or learnt. An example which i came across recently is Respected Sir Don Knuth -- who has written the famous volumes of the book "The art of computer programming". If you read his article here at Wikipedia, you will notice how he had given up checking his email to completely focus on finishing his book which will be useful for students/professionals even 50-100 years from now. So many people live life this way by spending almost the entire lifetime.

Then come the few rare souls who have developed the intuitive mind, geniuses who discover new insights from the depths of their own superconscious mind. Here are the explanations of the three phases of the mind from my beloved guru.

The Minds three Phases

The totality of the mind is vast and complicated. However, it is helpful to look at the entirety of the mind in three basic phases: the instinctive, the intellectual and the intuitive. The instinctive mind is easy to become aware of and experience. It includes the impulses of our physical body, our cravings, our desires, our digestive system, and our emotional mechanism that works through the physical body. The systems of elimination and blood circulation and the regulation of the heartbeat are all within the instinctive mind. This phase of mind functions automatically, or instinctively. It is as much alive in the animal kingdom as among humans.

Man alone develops the intellectual mind and is responsible for its composition as he lives along through life. This phase is a mixture of man's instinctive desires and cravings coupled with the knowledge he has gained from others and from his own intuitive discoveries. Within man's intellect, he organizes a vast amount of knowledge that begins to accumulate from a very early age. Ninety percent of this knowledge deals with the externality of the world and mind itself. The intellect can consume most of man's time through an incarnation, and usually does, lifetime after lifetime.

The intuitive, or superconscious, phase is even more complex, more organized, more refined than the instinctive or intellectual phases. It is mystically known as the mind of light, for when one is in this state of mind, he may see light within his head, and sometimes throughout the entirety of his physical body, if his inner sight is developed enough. Otherwise, he just begins to feel good all over, as actinic energy permeates his nervous system. When intuitive flashes come, he knows the next thing to be done in a creative activity. This is the superconscious area of the mind. When man is extremely perceptive, tremendously creative and knowledge seems to come to him from the inside of himself spontaneously, he is a superconscious being.

Instinctive is a word that some may understand and others take offense at. Don't. It only means "natural or innate," naming the drives and impulses that order the animal world and the physical and lower astral aspects of humans. For example, self-preservation, procreation, hunger and thirst, as well as the emotions of greed, hatred, anger, fear, lust and jealousy, are all instinctive forces. They are very real in animals and humans alike. When the mind functions instinctively, it is controlled by the habit impressions made in the subconscious during its journey through the experiences of life. Instinctive also means that the driving force comes from the sexual nature. The nature is turned in that direction subconsciously, even though the conscious mind may not be cognizant of the fact. It also means that in the event of an emergency, the animal nature would take over completely, being jarred loose from lack of what I term "mind-control," or from what might be called self-control.

The Second Superconscious experience

Last night i had a wonderful super-consciousness experience, it was around 3 a.m when this happened. I want to remember this experience so i want to put it here, as i remember it clearly now. By definition, we enter the super-conscious mind when awareness is not attached to anything in the subconscious mind. In other words, when awareness remains as pure awareness.

Before i describe that experience i will first write about yesterday evening. I attended the lecture of Swami Sukhabodhananda at Malleshwaram grounds with my cousin. His lecture had a deep impact on me. His Words which still linger in me are

  • It is important to have desire but not attachment. Desire is the spiritual quality which accompanied with will, makes all our inner goals a reality.

  • If I am attached to an object -- it only means i refuse to remain happy without that object. Attachment arises when we come in contact with sense objects and repeat it over a period of time.

  • The enlightened can be compared to the man on top of the hill (mountaintop consciousness) as for him, he can see both the past, present and future simultaneously. Whereas a man on the bottom of the hill is compared to a normal man who is always torn between past and future.

  • Awareness flows through certain chakras during the emotions that we experience. For example: During sexual thoughts awareness flows through the "Muladhara chakra". When reasoning with the intellect -- the " Svadhistana chakra", when in fear of anything, of life, career or of future, a persons awareness is flowing in the "Atala chakra". When in anger, awareness is in "Vitala chakra" and when in jealousy -- "Sutala chakra". When a person is in love with another and experiencing the selfless love feeling, awareness is in the "Anahat chakra". Personally i have experienced/been experiencing all these states in my own life and everyone would at some point of time in their life.

Super consciousness

Just before sleeping, i was trying to detach myself from areas of my mind which i know I'm attached to. This includes people whom i love, places i love, favorable experiences of past, unfavorable ones, the things/people i don't like etc. There are so many and with time i discover more, more things which i thought didn't matter to me but in reality i was really attached. This was the only simple exercise i did before sleeping, seeing all areas of mind with a detached eye without identifying myself with what i was aware of. i guess this continued in my sleep subconsciously as i don't remember when exactly i fell asleep. The next thing i remember is my breath slowing down to the point of no breathing, mind extremely calm and body extremely relaxed, a high frequency 'eee' sound which i can constantly hear in my brain suddenly became loud, so loud that i was only aware of it and nothing else. I got scared for a moment and opened my eyes and immediately i was back in the conscious mind. Clearly it was not a dream, as after i closed my eyes -- this experience happened many more times, easily 3-4 times. After which i consciously started breathing -- taking deep breaths in order to avoid going to that state. It was scary as it was the first time i consciously entered the super conscious mind, and naturally anything new which is not accustomed to our awareness is scary when it happens the first time.

Moments later i started realizing that entering this super conscious state was happening naturally without any efforts on my part, i was entering a new world with sounds and light, and getting scared by this new experience and withdrawing my awareness to the conscious mind.

The only effort i did -- was to deeply breath so that i do not enter the state due to my being scared of it. Then i woke up completely drank water, became fully conscious of my body -- nervous system to be specific and mind and entered sleep -- next thing i know was i was having random thoughts in the subconscious mind when my alarm rang at 6, and my breath was irregular at that time.

The lesson i learnt from this experience again confirms what my guru used to say, that we should not get afraid of the super conscious mind (which is natural to a beginner in the path of sadhana). It is just another area of the innumerable areas of mind but more refined due to the fact that there is nothing awareness can get attached to in this area of the mind, that's the beauty of this area of mind. in the instinctive and intellectual areas of mind this is not so --- awareness always tends to identify with one or more objects there.

The High "eee" Sound

For the past 3-4 months i often hear a high pitched 'eeeee' sound no matter what im doing, eating food, talking, watching TV or sleeping. The sound is more profound during meditation - this i experienced personally while meditating sitting at the centroid of a Pyramid shaped meditating room and focussing on Shirdi Sai Baba in a temple near Kolar during our trip to Prashanti Nilayam. A similar experience again happened while meditating at the Ramana Maharshi Ashram in Tiruvannamalai. Its like the sound is always there, but i dont pay attention to it all the time. Sometimes this sound captures all my attention and doesnt let me even sleep! I was wondering what this sound is all about. I happened to find out what it is from one of the writings of my guru. What i figured out in short was this - the clearer our subconscious gets the more profound the sound. clearing the subconscious can be done using the vasana daha tantra, by admittance of the mistakes, through austerity, penance and by the experience of repentance.

The High "eee" Sound

Within the quantum level of consciousness there originates a vibration, a steady vibration, that can be heard with the inner ear as a high-pitched "eeeee," as if a thousand vinas were playing, as if all the nerve currents in the astral body, physical body and the body of the soul were singing in harmony. It is a divine combination of the ida and pingala tones blended together in the sushumna. Each lineage of gurus has embedded within the psyche of tradition a certain combination of sounds, and that listening to this mystic sound holds all devotees close to their satguru and all those who preceded him. It is also said that when one is in another birth, the sound is the same, and this will eventually lead the aspirant back to his spiritual lineage. Listening to the nada, as it is called in Sanskrit, or nada-nadi shakti, brings the threshold of bliss and shows that the balance of all karmas has been attained. Listening to the nada and tracing it into its source carries the seeker's awareness to the brink of the Absolute. There are today mystical orders that do nothing but listen to the nada while looking at and enjoying the darshan of their guru's picture.

Many sincere seekers wonder why they cannot hear "eeeeee," the nada, during their meditation, whereas others not only hear it during meditation but during the day when talking, shopping or just meandering through the garden. This is to say, it is there when awareness enters that area of the mind. The mind has to be made empty. That means resolving all unresolved conflicts within the subconscious. The striving to hear the nada will bring up unresolved issues. They may plague the conscious mind until resolved. At first you might disregard them and feel they will go away as abruptly as they came. But later, when they persist, and the major one is deception--yes, we can even deceive ourselves--we are inwardly forced to face up to, admit our secrets and make amends. When deception goes, the nada comes. When the subconscious is heavy, the nada and the brilliant colors it radiates fade. Failure on the path puts the nada out of range of the inner ear of the soul.

The mystical nada, it's a medley of sounds, and each sound which is there has a color, but may be covered, as is the light of the mind of the soul, the clear white light. It is covered, but not permanently. Admittance of the mistakes, the experience of repentance and the performance of penance, called prayashchitta, lay the foundation for a reconciliation that will release the force of lower nature into the higher and uncloud the veil that hid the inner light, that hid the nada--that incomprehensible high-pitched "eee," sounding within the head, that incomparable source of inner security, contentment and outpouring of love. When you hear the nada, endeavor to project it in love's outpouring to all those who are in your orbit of communication. They will feel the blessings when your divine love is projected through your nada into their nada. This is the height of selfless consciousness, universal love, a constant mystically outpouring and experience of oneness. The sushumna is nada and more. Nada shakti is. It just is.

Jivanasya Prayojanam (The purpose of life )

Once you have realized that Self realization is the the ultimate goal of your life, go on living your normal life, putting attention and concentration in every single work that you do, doing a little more than you think you can, finish each project that you start, finish it well beyond your expectations, this process of channelizing every desire towards the final goal is called "transmuting". Transmute every desire towards the final goal. Once the tremendous force of desire is transmuted. The perspective is changed. We see ourself as an immortal being, and we work consistently with our lifestyle, day after day, week after week, month after month and year after year. Each decision that we make is an easier decision to make, and each reaction that we face, we face it joyfully. Each meditation that we hold is more profound than the last, and the spiritual being, the soul body, begins to merge with the physical body, as the elements of the instinct and the elements of the intellect that have been supreme life after life after life begin to give up and transmute their energies into the immortal body of the soul. This way the willpower gets awakened.

Remember, the lifestyle that we now have was programmed for us by mothers, fathers, religious leaders, teachers, people that we had just met along the way, and good friends. It's not a particularly good lifestyle in which to hold the perspective that we're an immortal being. It's a great lifestyle to hold the perspective that we're a temporal being, and we're only here a few years and then we die.

To develop a whole new lifestyle takes thought. Our desire has to be transmuted into doing that. In the ordinary lifestyle of human consciousness, our desires generally are for 'things', for emotional experiences, for intellectual knowing. And that's all good, but they're not organized. We have to organize the tremendous power of desire so that it's transmuted, and we desire the realization of the Self more than anything else. Then you'll have enough desire left over to get things, to get happiness and to get all the getting that humans want.

(See awareness as a lotus flower. We'll look at the mud as being the instinct, we'll look at the water as being the intellect and we'll look at the air as superconsciousness - Gurudeva)

The importance of Sleep

Upon passing into a state of sleep, the body's five positive currents are systematically depolarized; this allows the Ego to pass from the physical plane into the sub-superconscious regions. When the body is fully recuperated, the currents are again polarized, thus pulling the Ego back into the physical body, hence the conscious plane.

When in a physical body, the conscious mind/plane is always the home base - the headquarters. The five currents hold individual awareness or Ego in the conscious mind. Therefore, individual awareness can soar into the sub-superconscious regions and entertain great input, knowledge, direction for one's future, understanding of the karmas that have been gone through, as well as creativity that can later be manifest on the conscious plane. But as the aphorism says, once the body is fully recuperated from a state of sleep, individual awareness is now again aware of the conscious plane, which is the external world. All of the sub-superconscious input from the various regions is not forgotten, but is not remembered, and will slowly infiltrate from the sub-superconscious to the subconscious mind and manifest in the conscious mind intelligence at a much later time.

The aphorism states that "the body's five positive currents are systematically depolarized." This implies that they can be depolarized in an unsystematic way. To have them systematically depolarized, pranayama, hatha yoga and japa should precede the state of sleep. It also implies that the state of sleep is a state of deep meditation for the unfolded person. This does not happen for everyone. This happens for the one who prepares himself to go into that kind of deep sleep, who is in a state in which the five currents can be systematically depolarized. The five currents are the five winds of the body.

Depolarized means that they all rest. It's like nikashum. When you are doing nikashum, you are withdrawing all the five winds into simshumbisi, the center of your being. Depolarizing means bringing together that which is naturally apart. In the Shum language this is called nikashum. The energy of these five functions would be drawn into the sushumna current and enliven kundalini activity somewhat, just enough for individual awareness to flow into subsuperconscious inner worlds of creative intelligence, absorbing all the knowledge which they at that time could contain. This then is held as a deposit, along with other intelligence experienced within the subsuperconscious mind, slowly infiltrating through the subconscious to the conscious mind.

When the Ego "wakes up" from sleep, the physical body should be immediately put into action. To go back into the state of sleep immediately after naturally becoming conscious causes the five positive currents to be unconventionally depolarized -- the Ego passes into the subsubconscious regions.

The mystical edict has always been, "Wake up, get up." Any time during the night the mystic wakens, he sits up, stands up immediately, bringing himself totally into the conscious mind, turns on the light, moves the body, divorces individual awareness, his Ego, from whatever had been experienced during sleep. Then, as a conscious being, fully aware of head, arms, legs and the functions of the physical body, he puts the body to sleep again, to systematically depolarize and go back into the inner state he was drawn away from for one reason or another. The aphorism explains the penalties for neglecting this personal discipline, and, I might add, they double in effects once the discipline is known, because you know you should do something and you don't do it; that amount of extra energy will add in unconventionally depolarizing the currents. This means that some of the five currents give way half way and others will give way fully, and -- as they merge together during this time into individual awareness -- will conjure up the sub of the subconscious mind, give it strength and power to manifest at a later time. The sub of the subconscious mind should not be conjured up in this way, lest the manifestations not be welcome in the experiential pattern of the individual's life. There are other sadhanas to handle the sub of the subconscious mind.

It should be embarrassing to any devout Saivite, especially one who has been initiated, to not wake up with "Aum Namah Sivaya" in the mind. Traditional practices of basic japa are to fall asleep chanting "Aum Namah Sivaya" and wake up starting off on the same syllable one left off on when going to sleep. Therefore, to quickly heal the embarrassment, the devotee should, upon awakening, mentally or verbally say, "Aum Namah Sivaya," or "Sivaya Namah Aum," bringing the mind back to normal consciousness.

In a state of sleep, one must know that he himself behaves as he would in an awakened, conscious state. The mystic knows there is no state of unconsciousness, and that the same laws apply, the yamas, niyamas and pancha nitya karmas, whether one is awake or asleep. Whatever one does, even in a dream -- lying, cheating or stealing, deceiving, coercing or mutilating -- is a cause of karmas or forces to be re-experienced, re-enacted at a later time. Right thought, right speech, right action must hold through daily life and dream life. Those who do not have proper dreams, or who have violent dreams, should never be taught meditation, outside of group meditation, lest the power of meditation itself manifest their hidden unruly nature.

The guru, having all-pervasive consciousness, which is superconsciousness, is simultaneously within the subsuperconscious of all shishyas at every given moment or every space of time -- in their waking states, in their dream states, guiding, loving and protecting.

Be the energy always

Intuitively grasp the source which is powering all the nerves, starting from head to toe in feet. Locate it, don't stop until u locate it in the spine, and Be it, Be this energy all the time, every second, every minute, every hour. Don't be the mind which goes to past experiences, don't be the subconscious mind which wants novelty, just be the energy and enjoy life, enjoy relationships with the new influx of profound actinic energy, be the energy always, one day The Self will show up.

Tapping into Your Intuition

Begin to feel that your intuition works rather rapidly and is generally very reasonable, but does not use the process of reason. When you really want to reason something out, it may take a lot of time, but when you get an intuitive flash, it's right there. Then if you want to prove it, you have to reason it out. You will find that reason and intuition agree. Intuition is more direct than reason. That is why you should always use intuition. Always go in and in and in and find answers from within yourself, rather than wasting time scurrying around in the externalities of the mind.

Take this teaching in and apply it to yourself, making every metaphysical and philosophical area work within you. Do not carry all of this around with you as knowledge in the intellect. It will burden your intellect, and soon you will have to forget it, because the subconscious will have more than it can handle of inner teaching. It takes a while to convince the subconscious that you are a spiritual being whose existence does not begin and end with this life. Therefore, this inner teaching must begin to be applied as soon as it has begun to be understood.

The superconscious mind is the most wonderful area of the mind there is, although awareness is not always in it. We are not always aware in the superconscious mind, because we are generally aware in the conscious mind, or aware of our own subconscious or that of another. But the more and more we detach awareness from subconscious binds and conscious-mind attachments, the more we become superconscious. When we feel as if we are living totally in the moment, as if there is no past and there never has been any past or future, we are becoming subconsciously certain we are an intense, vibrating entity of the eternal now. That is superconsciousness, and that is very real. More real than a table, a chair, an automobile or a person sitting next to you is this feeling of being an intense sheath of energy right in the eternal moment, with no past, no future. This is superconsciousness.

Living Two-Thirds Within

Living two-thirds within oneself and one-third in the external world--how do we do it? As soon as we live within ourselves, we become conscious of all of our various secret thoughts, all of our various emotions, that we would just as soon be without. Therefore, we distract ourselves and endeavor to live two-thirds in the external world and only one-third within ourselves. As aspirants on the path, you have to live your life two-thirds within yourself. When you are conscious of the thoughts that you don't want to think, the emotions that you don't want to feel, go deep within where they don't exist. Take awareness to the central source of energy, right within the spine itself. Feel that energy flowing through the body, moving the muscles, enlivening the cells. Then you are two-thirds within yourself, and the world looks bright and cheery all the time; the sun is always shining. Immediately, when we begin to identify totally with our thoughts as being reality, then we begin to make mistakes. We're living two-thirds in the external world.

How to strike the balance? Regulate the breath throughout the day. Keep the spine always straight. Always sit up straight. As soon as the spine is bent, awareness is externalized. We're living two-thirds in the external area of the mind and only one-third in. As soon as the spine is straight, our awareness is internalized. We're living two-thirds within and only one-third out.
What's the biggest barrier? Fear. Afraid of our secret thoughts. Afraid of our secret feelings. What's the biggest escape from fear? Go to the center, where energy exists, the energy that moves the life through the body. The simplest way is move your spine back and forth. Feel the power that moves that spine. Feel the power that moves that spine back and forth. Feel that energy going out through the physical body. Open your eyes and look at the world again, and you'll see it bright and shiny. You're two-thirds in and one-third out in awareness. You're balanced.

"Be renewed by a change of your mind." Be renewed by releasing awareness from one area of the vast universe of the mind, drawing it back into its source and, releasing it again, sending it to another of the vast areas of the mind.

Claim the Being Of Yourself

According to my guru, kids who are in teens have amazing will power. The Manipura chakra is strong in this age. This will they can use positively or negatively. Some kids use this negatively and ruin their lives, some make\lose money by getting into drugs, drinks, movies, and all sorts of bad habits. Some spend their parents' hard earned money in a wrong way, some kids use the power positively, become well educated, learn things more than ever they knew before or they would know in future and attain great results, similarly those spiritually inclined attain Self realization during this age, examples being Sri Ramana Maharshi who attained the state during His teens, so also Sathya Sai Baba, my great guru, Sri Shirdi Sai Baba, and many many great yogis in the past. Once a person crosses his teen, if he has properly used his willpower to attain things he wants (which is the realm of Manipura chakra), he slowly matures into the anahat chakra. In this chakra intuition guides him for direct cognition about things. In a flash he knows things as they are, as they should be and how they will be in future.

This happens only when he has lived well in the Manipura chakra ...... In the Manipura chakra there is a good chance of the person entering the anava marga ..... the path where his ego becomes huge. And there is a good chance he may fall down to the lower chakras. So the devotee has to remember to claim his awareness from any state of consciousness he is in and be himself in order to fully understand which chakra he is working in at the moment. How to do that is explained below by my guru.

Claim the Being Of Yourself

We say, "I am sick," and in the English language that means my body is sick, or I am aware of this body not being in a perfect state of health. The mystic knows he is not this body. He can even remember dropping off the body many, many different times, getting new bodies through the process of reincarnation. We are not what we are aware of. We are separate from that which we are aware of. We are only flowing through these areas of the mind. If we live in San Francisco, we're not San Francisco. If we live in unhappiness, we're not unhappiness. That's only one of the cities of the mind. This is a great meditation. You can grasp this awakening in thirty seconds. You can grasp this awakening in thirty hours, or thirty minutes. You can grasp this awakening and have it come to you vibrantly in thirty weeks, thirty months, or thirty years or thirty lifetimes. It just depends upon your willpower.

As soon as we can understand awareness detached from that which it is aware of, we have a vibrant energy, a tremendous drive; a tremendous willpower is released from within us. And we live with the feeling that we can do anything that we want to do, almost as quickly as we want to do it. We want things to happen now, for we vividly see the area where they already exist within the force fields of the mind itself.

How do we live our life from this point? We begin to apply this philosophy in every department of our life. There are some habit patterns in our subconscious mind that have not caught up with this new perspective as yet. And you'll be running up against them. As soon as you find awareness totally identified with a subconscious area that has become conscious, immediately turn inward, detach awareness from that which it is aware of and just be pure energy. You can expect a beautiful life, a beautiful relationship with the being of yourself. Claim the being of yourself as you. You have enough knowledge now. You don't have to discover the being of yourself and keep looking for it. Just be the being of yourself and travel through the mind as the traveler travels around the globe.

The wonderful story of awareness, I could go on and on talking about it, because it is so very basic and so very, very important. This then makes an infinite intelligence and everyone the same. Only, they are living in different areas of the mind, or different houses.
