gururbrahmā gururviṣṇuḥ gururdēvō mahēśvaraḥ |
gururēva parambrahma tasmai śrīguravē namaḥ ‖ 3 ‖
Meaning: Salutations to that guru who is the Creator, Sustainer, and Destroyer, who is the limitless one.
Brahmanandam parama sukhadam kevalam jnaanamurtim
Dvandvaateetam gaganasadrusham tatvamasyadi lakshyam
Ekam nityam vimalamachalam sarvadheesaakshibhuutam
Bhaavaateetam triguna rahitam sadgurum tam namaami.

I bow down to that Sadguru, who is the bliss of Brahman, the giver of supreme happiness, the embodiment of pure knowledge. He is beyond duality, expansive like the sky, whose goal is indicated by the great saying 'Thou art That'. He is the one eternal, pure, unchanging witness of the functions of the intellect, who is above all mental conditions and the three Gunas.
caitanyaḥ śāśvataḥśāntō vyōmātītō nirañjanaḥ
bindunāda kalātītaḥ tasmai śrīguravē namaḥ

Dhyaana-Muulam Gurur-Muurtih: The root (or source) of meditation is the form of the Guru.
Puujaa-Muulam Gurur-Padam: The root of worship is the feet of the Guru.
Mantra-Muulam Gurur-Vaakyam: The root of mantra is the word (or teachings) of the Guru.
Mokssa-Muulam Guruur-Krpaa: The root of liberation (or spiritual freedom) is the grace of the Guru.
The root of meditation is the form of the Guru, the root of worship is the feet of the Guru, the root of mantra is the word of the Guru, and the root of liberation is the grace of the Guru.
